Dr. Michelle Trenkmann

About the Speaker:
Dr. Michelle Trenkmann has a degree in biochemistry from the University of Leipzig and a PhD in molecular biology from the University of Zurich. In her postdoctoral work at University College Dublin, she focused on macrophage biology and GWAS follow-up in rheumatoid arthritis. Since joining the journal in February 2017, Michelle has been handling manuscripts on human genetics, in particular disease genetics. She is based in the London office.

Abstract:
This presentation will give an overview over the Nature family journals and what the key editorial differences are between the journals. Dr. Trenkmann will talk about the editorial process, what the editors look for in a manuscript that they would like to publish and explain how they make decisions on manuscripts that end up publishing. She will also speak about the manuscript transfer system and how the editors in different Nature family journals work together to find a suitable home for submitted manuscripts and the talk will finally end with some highlights on Open Access publishing.
