Professor Siew Ng is Associate Director for the Center of Gut Microbiota Research and Professor of Medicine at the Department of Medicine and Therapeutics, Chinese University of Hong Kong. She received her undergraduate education from St Bartholomew’s and the Royal London School of Medicine and Doctor of Philosophy from Imperial College London. Her research interests focus on microbial screening and microbiome-based precision medicine for diseases including inflammatory bowel disease, infectious disease, obesity, metabolic diseases, childhood allergy and autism. She has published over 200 scientific articles in Nature Communications, Nature Genetics, Lancet and Gastroenterology. She is pioneer of the “100K mother-baby cohort” in the Greater Bay Area of China. She led the first large scale Asia-Pacific epidemiologic IBD study and the Asian Microbiota consortium. She has been awarded Croucher Senior Medical Research Fellowships Award, Sir Francis Avery Jones Visiting Professorship and Award, and Joanna David B. Sachar Professorship. She is Associate Editor of Gut. In 2017, she established Asia’s First Microbiota Transplantation (FMT) & Research Centre and the first longitudinal intestinal microbiota transplantation registry in Asia.
