Abstract:
As Director of the NBR-Rare Diseases, Professor Willem H Ouwehand has coordinated the Rare Diseases pilot phase for the 100 000 Genomes Project. So far, the whole genome sequencing results of 13,000 participants with Rare Diseases and their close relatives have been analysed.

The exciting messages from this national UK genome sequencing effort will be reviewed with a focus on the impact on patient management and new insights gained in disease mechanisms.
