a. Gene Expression Profiling, Analysis & Genotyping Affymetrix Platform

Affymetrix GeneChip expression arrays are available for over 30 different eukaryotic and prokaryotic species, and new arrays are being added on a regular basis.

Currently, the Core Laboratory provides various arrays (Tiling, Exon and Gene array) and Genotyping array services, including genotyping, microRNA, gene expression, transcript mapping and cytogenetics study. We also have the capacity to expand to run new arrays available in Affymetrix. For details of the technology, please visit www.affymetrix.com.

Illumina iScan System

Beadchip based genetic analysis assays for genotyping, CNV analysis, DNA methylation and gene expression profiling.

Fluidigm BioMark System

The Fluidigm BioMark System is a high-throughput real-time PCR system. It enables real-time quantitative PCR (qPCR), SNP genotyping, gene expression profiling and digital PCR assays using the Integrated Fluidic Circuit (IFC) technology, a high-throughput and low volume fluidics chip. The BioMark System streamlines workflow for applications demanding sensitivity and dynamic range. The system acquires data for each reaction chamber on the IFC simultaneously and can operate in either end-point or real-time detection mode.

For details of the System, please visit Fluidigm’s website.

The Core Laboratory is offering the BioMark Platform on a self-service and first-come, first-served basis (located in Room 505, Li Ka Shing Medical Sciences Building, Prince of Wales Hospital). Users should bring their own reagents and consumables and prepare the array chips by themselves. The usage fee will be charged on cost-recovery basis only.
