progress report
Research Interests
  • Body composition and nutritional assessment in patients with chronic kidney disease
  • Cardiovascular disease in dialysis patients
  • Diabetic kidney disease and glucose monitoring
  • Novel diagnostic methods including identification of organisms in peritoneal dialysis-associated peritonitis by next generation sequencing and microrobotic technology
Specialised Research Area
  • Use of bioimpedance technique to objectively evaluate volume overload, adiposity, and muscle wasting in chronic kidney disease
  • Use of advanced echocardiogram to assess subclinical ventricular systolic dysfunction and determine its relationship with volume overload and other laboratory parameters
  • Accuracy study to evaluate performance of continuous glucose monitoring sensors against Yellow Spring Instruments
  • Explore different biomarkers which predict the progression of diabetic kidney disease
Biography

Jack Ng is the Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine and Therapeutics, Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Honorary Associate Consultant in Prince of Wales Hospital. He was a visiting scholar at George Institute for Global Health (Australia) in 2019.

Jack is the current Council Member and Chairman of Scientific Committee in Hong Kong Society of Nephrology (HKSN), and Assistant Secretary of International Association of Chinese Nephrologists (IACN). He was the founding Chairman of Young Nephrologist Committee of Asian Pacific Society of Nephrology (APSN). He also serves on the International Liaison Committee of International Society for Peritoneal Dialysis (ISPD).

Jack has received Young Nephrologist Investigator Award from Hong Kong Society of Nephrology and Distinguished Research Paper Award from Hong Kong College of Physicians. He is member of writing team of International Society for Peritoneal Dialysis (ISPD) Cardiovascular and Metabolic Guideline in Peritoneal Dialysis: 2026 update. He is also invited to serve as expert panelist in the Diabetes Technology Society Consensus Guideline on Analytical Performance Requirements for Continuous Glucose Monitoring Systems.
